Leader as Achiever

Another characteristic of an effective leader is the ability to be an Achiever

An Achiever is a leader who delivers consistent results, can create, and execute strategies that will have a positive impact on the organization.

To create and execute strategy and ultimately attain results that make matter, here is what an Achiever does well:

  • An Achiever defines a clear and compelling path to where the organization is heading that is aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.  This is the roadmap for the entire organization, division, or department to follow.

  • An Achiever ensures that operational plans are in place to successfully realize the strategy.

  • An Achiever Leverages Talent, realizing the critical importance that talent and culture have in organizational success.

  • An Achiever executes flawlessly.  This is the action component of Achieving.  The ability to lead from the front, to monitor, track, to PIVOT as needed to respond to changes in a rapidly changing environment.

  • An Achiever Communicate Consistently making sure that strategy is understandable t each stakeholder in the chain. Communication is a key attribute to an Achiever.

What is clear is that an Achiever cannot depend solely on the ability to demonstrate Achiever leadership characteristics or behaviors.  To be truly effective at not only devising strategy but executing strategy requires an Achiever to PIVOT and lean into the other five effective leader characteristics to truly succeed.  Individuals who only demonstrate Achiever behaviors and are unable to Pivot and bring forward other behaviors required to effectively analyze and respond to a dynamic and highly disruptive environment will quickly become irrelevant.

How are you at Leading Strategy and Execution? How do you know? What are your innate capabilities in Achieving organizational success?
